The Witch – Matted Original 5x7 Illustration

She walked down the dirt road as everyone slept, and from home to home her unnatural flames leapt. All those righteous fools dying in their sleep, each a sinner with the secrets they keep.

As the town burned the survivors hurriedly filled the road, and around the young girl they crept, frightened and confused the town’s reverend wept: “What have we done to you that would bring about such scorn?”

She replied with a smirk, “I’m the granddaughter of a witch you never got to burn.”*
