“Cat Girl”

The other children mocked her outfits right from the start,
but took the term “cat girl” close to her heart.
She secretly became obsessed with cats’ inner workings and over time grew very wise,
and desired more than anything to see through feline eyes.
Frustration, failure, and countless dead strays,
overshadowed her goal with doubt and dismay.
Her love of cats was noticed and her parents’ gift brought on cheers,
because now she had found two beautiful volunteers.
